2013 Veggie Car Race

Three “Little Engines That Could” en­­­­­tered the club’s fifth annual Veggie Car Race, Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the end of Dock 5. These cars are no slam-dunk to make since they must be created out of common garden vegetables, making it hard to predict how long the wooden skewers will hold them together.
                                                                                                                                        
         

Fastest car prize went to Ellen (Double SS) and Chris (Critcher Cat) who collaborated on the winning car (middle of picture).   Prize was a bottle of Nassau Royale.  John and Diane on Duetto won for the Most Unique car (bottom), and Honorable Mention (a cup of Briana Brew!) went to JB (Southern Belle).

 A surprise storm waited until the race was over before the rain drove everyone under the tent for friendly conversation and to have some of Brian Beckwith’s (Done Rovin) rum punch.

Following the storm, a rainbow arched over the race’s end, symbolically giving the final blessing to a successful event.  The pot of gold was in the tent, where a better group of folks who would be hard to find elsewhere, according to event coordinator Roger Comer (Teamwork), who thanks everyone who helped him.

 

 

And.....the club thanks Roger for all his hard work to make this unique and fun event happen.
